    Hello Mellow Yellow

    New Farringtons

    OAK SMOKED RAPESEED OIL

Mellow Yellow Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil sits in the smokehouse for 48 hours, taking on the intense smoke, building a robust depth of flavour.

This finest quality smoked oil has warming oak notes to create a rich and complex finished product, with the sweet, complex umami flavours of smokiness that suit a myriad of uses in the kitchen.

With a high smoke point of 230C, it is ideal for roasting, frying, baking or dressing. It adds a particularly strong smokiness when stirred into dishes just before serving.

We love Farrington’s Smoky Mushroom Risotto (pictured), they explain “the key here is to replace the usual knob of butter that is stirred in at the end of a risotto with a drizzle of our Oak Smoked Rapeseed Oil. By stirring it in at the end of the cooking process, you add a wonderfully deep and rich smokiness to this risotto recipe, that perfectly complements the umami flavour of the mushrooms.”

    Duncan

Farrington’s Mellow Yellow was founded by fourth generation farmer, Duncan Farrington. Born and brought up in the Northamptonshire village of Hargrave, following University, he returned to the family farm to join his parents in the family business. However, it soon became clear that farming, driving tractors and growing crops would not be enough to sustain the family for another four generations. He returned to his University research on cold pressed rapeseed oil and a passion was awoken, which quickly turned into an obsession for the fantastic culinary properties and nutritional benefits packed into the tiny black seeds.

Following years of research, Duncan launched Farrington’s Mellow Yellow in 2005 and became Britain’s first ‘seed-to-bottle’ producer of cold pressed rapeseed oil. Sustainability has always been important for Duncan. As a LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) farmer, Duncan farms in an environmentally responsible way, making sure to nurture nature.

Farrington’s Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil is grown to LEAF Marque standards, this is a farm assurance system that shows that the food has been grown sustainably with care for the environment. Through the implementation of wildflower meadow margins, beetle banks, beehives and much more, Duncan has improved the biodiversity on his farm and ensures that sustainability stays front of mind.
