Transport Shift Manager

Responsible for delivering and maintaining a fully operational transport team; including planning and organising to ensure that all vehicles are driven in the most cost effective, safe, and legal manner at all times. Ensuring you have sufficient resource to meet KPI and budgetary targets and be self-confident in decision making. You must respond to queries in a timely manner and provide a professional and positive customer focused service.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing and planning driver resource
• Managing and planning effective and efficient routes
• Monitoring and overseeing of driver performance
• Developing the skills of Transport Supervisors
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety and food safety at all times
• Organising driver training and accurate recording of training records
• Managing and coaching personal development for all transport team members to enable them to provide effective support
• Overseeing the day-to-day planning and organisation of the transport function
• Ensuring that labour and KPI budget targets are met
• Continuing to drive customer service to meet our high level of customer service across the business.

The successful candidate will have:

• Demonstrable experience within a transport environment or similar role
• An up-to-date national CPC
• Proven track record of managing and leading a transport team
• First-class relationship building skills along with good planning and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to identify errors to raise high standards and quality to achieve continuous improvement
• Strong personal qualities aligned with our values and a calm approach to work
