Sustainability and Community
At Pilgrim Foodservice, we know that small changes can make a meaningful difference. From reducing waste and using renewable energy to supporting local causes, we’re always looking for practical ways to do better for our customers, our community and the environment.
Solar Energy and Led Lighting
We are also committed to generating clean and renewable energy. Our buildings feature solar panels, which harness the sun's power to provide us with a green energy source. Our offices also feature an energy-efficient lighting system, which only activates when needed, helping us to reduce our overall energy consumption.
New Fleet of Electric Vehicles
As part of our approach to sustainability, all our customer development and account managers now use electric vehicles when travelling to visit customers. This helps to reduce emissions and supports our efforts to lower environmental impact, while maintaining the responsive and reliable service our customers expect.
No Food Waste
All the the peelings and cuttings from our freshly prepared vegetable preparation facility are transformed into biofuel, via an AD plant reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable energy source.
Our damaged fruits and vegetables go to Boston College Farm.
Oil Waste Collection
We've partnered with Arrow Oils to help our customers manage edible oil waste safely and responsibly – at no cost to them. By converting waste oil into biodiesel, we are supporting our customers' efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, while also preventing drain clogs and sewer overflows, and minimising landfill use. Simply purchase your oil from us with your normal orders and you can arrange collection.
Giving Back
Our in-house charity committee organises a variety of events, raffles, and fundraisers, which are not only enjoyable for our employees, but also generate funds for worthy causes.
